Fresh, pasture-raised poultry, processed humanely

At Tellman Hill Farm, our chickens and turkeys are raised with tons of space to roam and graze. We also do all our own processing on site — meaning the birds don’t have to go through the highly stressful trip and processing facility conditions as most poultry does.

Each year we have a limited number of whole, fresh chickens available a few times a year, as well as a batch of turkeys in November. Orders are placed ahead of time and pickup occurs on specific dates. See below to reserve a bird.

The 2025 chicken price was $4.80/lb, and typical weights were 4.0-6.0lbs. 2026 pricing is yet to be determined. There will be options for pickup days in July and August.

The 2024 turkey price was $4.80/lb, and typical weights are 10-20lbs. 2025 pricing is yet to be determined. Turkey pickup is typically available the Monday before Thaksgiving.

About Our Poultry

Chicks arrive on the farm two days after hatching. After spending their first few weeks inside a heated brooder, we move them to our pastures, where they live in bottomless coops that provide them with fresh plants and bugs every day, while keeping them protected from predators and the elements.

They are fed conventional grain from our local mill, Morrison's in Barnet, VT.

All chickens are processed on the farm by Emily and Doug. This is the most difficult part of raising animals for us, but we feel that processing our own poultry allows us to treat our animals in the best possible way and provide the best possible product for our customers. Processing is conducted under exemption from USDA Inspection.
